Reese Witherspoon is returning to Hello Sunshine through a partnership with French media group Mediawan, according to reports by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
The agreement brings the actor and producer back into the company she founded in 2016 and moves the production business out of Candle Media's portfolio.
Under the deal, Witherspoon will invest alongside Mediawan and work with its leadership, including CEO Pierre-Antoine Capton.
Hello Sunshine co-founder Seth Rodsky will also join the company's board, alongside Witherspoon and Mediawan representatives.
A New Phase for Hello Sunshine
The transaction marks a new phase for Hello Sunshine, which became part of Candle Media following its acquisition.
Witherspoon thanked Candle Media and Blackstone for their support, while the company's original launch received backing from Peter Chernin and Jesse Jacobs through The Chernin Group.
Hello Sunshine has developed a portfolio of film and television productions, including Big Little Lies, The Morning Show, Little Fires Everywhere, and Daisy Jones & The Six.
The company has also built an audience through Reese's Book Club, which connects its literary brand with its broader entertainment business.
Mediawan CEO Pierre-Antoine Capton described Hello Sunshine as a valuable addition to the group's production network, highlighting its creative output and established relationship with audiences.
"Led by a generational talent in Reese, Hello Sunshine has an extraordinary track record of telling premium stories through film and TV and forming strong connections with audiences through Reese's Book Club," said Capton.
"Bringing these creative brands together, giving producers access to a broader pool of talent, IP, and resources, while preserving their independence is what differentiates Mediawan."
The partnership adds Hello Sunshine to a growing international production portfolio that includes several established entertainment companies.
Mediawan has recently acquired Plan B Entertainment, the production company associated with Brad Pitt, as well as Chernin Entertainment and See-Saw Films, according to the source reports.
Other companies in Mediawan's portfolio include Kinetic Content, Wiedemann & Berg, Palomar, Our Films, Drama Republic, Chapter2, and Chi-Fou-Mi.
Its production credits span multiple genres and markets, with titles including F1, Backrooms, Slow Horses, Call My Agent!
, Love Is Blind, and The Greatest Showman.
The agreement places Hello Sunshine within Mediawan's expanding network while retaining an emphasis on the creative identities of its production companies.
Capton said the group's approach is to connect producers with additional talent, intellectual property, and resources while preserving their independence.
