The movie arrived on the platform on October 21, 2026, following a theatrical debut on July 10 and digital purchase and rental options on September 8.

A New Cast Brings Motunui to Life
Catherine Lagaʻaia makes her feature film debut as Moana, the young resident of Motunui chosen by the ocean to restore the heart of the goddess Te Fiti.
Dwayne Johnson returns as Maui after voicing the character in the original animated films.
The supporting cast includes Rena Owen as Gramma Tala, John Tui as Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as Sina and Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa.
Thomas Kail, known for directing Hamilton, led the production, with a screenplay by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller.
Lin-Manuel Miranda returned as a songwriter, while Mark Mancina handled the musical score.
The film follows Moana as she travels beyond the reef, finds Maui and faces challenges while learning the skills of a wayfinder.
It keeps major musical elements from the animated version, including How Far I'll Go, I Am Moana and You're Welcome, and adds a new song called Along the Way.
The original 2016 animated Moana has remained one of Disney Plus' most-watched films, with viewers worldwide streaming it for more than 1.5 billion hours.
The adaptation closely follows the animated film rather than significantly changing the story, recreating many visual elements from the original while using live action performances and effects.
Home entertainment editions include a sing-along mode and behind-the-scenes material titled Beyond the Reef, which covers the film's production process, cultural representation and creation of costumes and sets.
