Newly obtained 911 audio documents an attempt to revive actress Hayden Panettiere after she was found unconscious at a rental apartment in Greenville, South Carolina.

Zach Hickerson, the brother of Panettiere's former boyfriend Brian Hickerson, contacted emergency services and followed a dispatcher's CPR instructions before first responders arrived.

The recordings were obtained by ABC News and CBS News.

What the 911 Call Captured

On the recording, Zach Hickerson urgently asks the dispatcher how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

He had gone to the apartment after being unable to contact either his brother or Panettiere, according to the reports.

Zach explained that he found his brother asleep when he arrived, then discovered Panettiere was unconscious and sought immediate assistance.

"Oh, God, oh, my God — you do like CPR or something?" Zach Hickerson said, according to the recording.

The dispatcher also asked whether an automated external defibrillator was available.

Zach could not locate one, and the operator then asked whether Panettiere was breathing.

"No, I don't think so," Zach Hickerson replied, according to the audio.

The dispatcher proceeded to guide Zach through CPR until emergency personnel arrived and took over the efforts to revive Panettiere.

The recording provides additional details about the emergency response before medical personnel reached the apartment.

Account Matches Earlier Interview

The audio is consistent with an account Zach gave TMZ shortly after Panettiere died on Aug. 16.

In that interview, he described calling emergency services and attempting to resuscitate her alongside his brother while awaiting firefighters and emergency medical personnel.

"I immediately called 911, and Brian gave her Narcan. We then jointly performed CPR while 911 was on speaker until Fire and EMS arrived.

At that point we watched as they tried every measure possible to save her life," Zach Hickerson said.

Zach also expressed his grief over Panettiere's death and described their longstanding friendship.

He said they had been close for eight years and asked the public to refrain from speculation while the investigation continued.

"Hayden was one of my dearest and closest friends that I loved and cared about for the last 8 years," Zach Hickerson said.

He also urged people to avoid spreading unverified claims about the circumstances of her death while investigators worked to establish the facts.

"Out of respect for her loved ones, the speculation and sensationalism of her death needs to end until the facts can be released from the investigation," Zach Hickerson said.
