Black Clover Season 2 has climbed to the top of streaming rankings in seven countries following its October 3, 2026, return, according to FlixPatrol data reported by Collider.
The anime also drew attention at New York Comic Con 2026, where Japanese voice actor Gakuto Kajiwara and English voice actor Dallas Reid spoke about the series' development and the changing responsibilities of its protagonist.
FlixPatrol's Crunchyroll Amazon Channels rankings placed the fantasy series at No. 1 in markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, and France on October 5.
By October 8, the show ranked No. 2 in the United States while holding the top position in Spain and Italy, according to Collider.
Crunchyroll lists the returning series as Season 2, with its October 3 premiere identified as overall episode 171.
Collider also reported that the premiere became Crunchyroll's most-liked anime episode, marking another milestone after the series' hiatus of more than five years.
Voice Actors Reflect on Asta's Journey
At New York Comic Con 2026, Kajiwara reflected on nearly a decade of voicing Asta and explained how his personal development has influenced his portrayal of the character.
He connected his early career experiences with Asta's initial uncertainty about how to achieve his ambition.
"Originally, I started voicing Asta almost 10 years ago, and at that time, it was truly the start of my career.
Asta also started out not knowing how to get stronger or what path to take, even though his goal was clear.
He had the goal, but not the roadmap. I was in that exact same state.
As my life experience grew and I gained more diverse perspectives, my approach changed.
As Asta grew, I grew as well, and my way of portraying him changed with my life experiences," Kajiwara said.
Reid described Asta's current role as a departure from the character's early efforts to earn recognition.
As the Magic Knights prepare for another confrontation, Asta has become someone powerful allies depend on to help secure victory.
"I think that Asta, in the beginning, had something to prove. Where we are now in the series, he has proven it.
He went from somebody who was just trying to get a little bit of respect, to the person that some of the best Magic Knights in the kingdom are waiting on his arrival because they know he will be the key to winning the fight they face now.
So he has gone from someone who was just desperately trying to prove that he could be someone you could rely on, to someone who has now taken up that responsibility and has to make good on it.
It's a very different energy. He's not trying anymore, now it's go-time.
He's in the game, he's up. Is he going to make the shot or not?"
Reid said.
The actors also addressed the anime's increasingly dark storyline.
Kajiwara said the narrative now explores deeper and darker material than the first season, while his performance remains centered on Asta's emotional development rather than a deliberate change in acting technique.
"Black Clover Season 2 digs deeper into the story, so naturally, some darker elements come out.
Compared to the first season, the narrative goes much deeper into dark places, but my acting approach hasn't changed.
I follow Asta's footsteps and his mental growth, trying to keep up with where he is, rather than intentionally changing my acting plan based on the plot's direction," Kajiwara said.
Reid said he follows a similar approach, adding that he has read Yuki Tabata's manga and knows future developments that Asta has yet to encounter in the anime.
The manga concluded in May 2026, giving the television adaptation a completed source story to draw from.
Produced by Studio Pierrot, Black Clover follows Asta, a boy born without magic who aims to become the Wizard King.
His anti-magic abilities and rivalry with Yuno, a gifted magic user, remain central to the story as the Magic Knights prepare to rescue captured captains from the Spade Kingdom.
According to Collider, Crunchyroll's published schedule lists new subtitled episodes for Saturdays at 8 a. m.
Pacific Time.
The streaming platform has not announced a release schedule for the English-dubbed episodes.
