Rivalry Rooted in Highway 57 and a 1957 First Meeting
The fixture takes its name from Federal Highway 57, the main route linking San Luis Potosí and Querétaro.
According to Plano Informativo, the teams first met on August 25, 1957, during celebrations for San Luis Rey de Francia, with the San Luis side winning 1-0.
One of the rivalry's defining chapters came in June 2005, when the clubs met in a promotion final for a place in Mexico's top division.
Querétaro took the first leg 2-1, but San Luis overturned the deficit at Estadio Alfonso Lastras through an early Héctor Giménez goal and an Ariel González header in extra time.
The 2-0 win gave San Luis a 3-2 aggregate victory and promotion.
Other notable meetings include a 4-4 draw in 2003 and a January 2015 Copa MX match in which Ronaldinho featured for Querétaro, with Diego Cervantes scoring the only goal in San Luis's 1-0 win.
Security concerns also mark the rivalry: a match at Estadio Alfonso Lastras on October 20, 2019, was suspended after clashes between supporters, leading to sanctions and renewed attention to stadium safety.
Recent results have kept the series competitive, with San Luis winning 2-0 in March 2023 and 4-0 in August 2024, while Querétaro replied with a 1-0 win in February 2025 and a 3-2 victory in a five-goal contest that August.
San Luis claimed another win on February 14, 2026, beating Querétaro 3-0 at Estadio Alfonso Lastras through goals from João Pedro, Jesús Medina and Miguel García.
San Luis entered the October 20 fixture after a 1-1 draw against Toluca at Estadio Nemesio Diez, while Querétaro arrived following a 5-0 loss to Santos Laguna in Torreón, according to Atlético de San Luis's official match preview.
Adonai Escobedo was appointed referee, with Marco Bisguerra and Michel Espinoza as assistant referees and Óscar Mejía as fourth official.
