Fairfield, Connecticut has removed all Flock cameras from its roadways.

The town did not abandon automated plate reading altogether, however. It replaced the Flock devices with 54 license plate readers supplied by a rival ALPR company.

The swap means Fairfield still operates a network of automated license plate recognition cameras, just under a different vendor.

A Vendor Switch, Not a Shutdown

The change centers on which company supplies the technology rather than whether the town uses it.

Flock cameras are no longer part of Fairfield's setup, and the competing ALPR system now accounts for the town's 54 plate readers.

The available information does not detail the reasons behind the decision or the terms of the new arrangement.
