Amazon has begun issuing automatic refunds of up to $200 to some Prime customers after a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission.
The first payments went out in early October to people who qualified under the case.
Who qualifies for the refund
Eligibility covers customers who signed up between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025.
Those customers must also have tried to cancel Prime online during that period without success.
In addition, they must have used no more than 20 Prime benefits during a 12-month period, with examples including Prime Video and Amazon Music Prime.
The FTC said Amazon enrolled millions of consumers in Prime without their knowledge or consent and made cancellation difficult.
The settlement was reached in September.
Refunds are being issued automatically, so eligible customers do not need to submit a claim or complete paperwork.
Payments will be sent through Venmo, PayPal, or by mailed check.
Customers have 60 days to redeem the payment after its issue date.
People who already received $51 from an earlier settlement could still receive the remaining $149.
Qualified customers are expected to receive their refunds by April next year.
