The Florida Gators men's basketball program received a major boost on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Center Rueben Chinyelu announced his withdrawal from the NBA Draft to return to Gainesville for the 2026-2027 season.

Chinyelu, the reigning Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, solidifies the front line for head coach Todd Golden.
The Gators were eliminated in the round of 32 by the Iowa Hawkeyes last season.
Core Frontcourt Returns
Chinyelu joins returning forwards Thomas Haugh and Alex Condon.
The trio keeps the core of the Gators' frontcourt intact as the program targets a national championship run.
"It's just going to be so much fun," Chinyelu said during an interview with Andy Katz at the NBA Scouting Combine.

The defensive anchor expressed optimism about the program's outlook.
"And we have new guys coming in, so I think it's just gonna be super fun.
And you already know how our frontline looked last year, so putting that with the new guys coming in, I think it's going to be a super, super fun year," Chinyelu added.
With Chinyelu returning, Florida brings back four of its five starters from the previous season.
