Middlesbrough will face Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final at Wembley on Saturday after Southampton was expelled from the competition due to a disciplinary investigation into a 'Spygate' scandal.

The decision reinstated Middlesbrough into the promotion decider, forcing head coach Kim Hellberg to refocus a squad that had previously been eliminated by Southampton in the semi-finals.

Hull also experienced preparation disruptions, having initially prepared to face Southampton before the disciplinary ruling forced them to reset their tactical plans for Middlesbrough instead.

The upcoming match marks the sixth Wembley appearance for Middlesbrough, a club that finished the regular season seven points ahead of Hull but enters the final without a win in its last three games.

Conversely, Hull enters the high-stakes fixture on the back of a three-game unbeaten streak that includes two victories.

Hellberg Reflects on Turbulent Debut Season

Reflecting on his tumultuous debut season in English football since his appointment in November, Middlesbrough manager Kim Hellberg shared the sentiments of those around him.

"No, no. That sums it up quite quite well, to be fair," said Hellberg.

The 38-year-old Swedish manager noted that his introduction to the English game has been an intense experience.

"It's been up and downs and a roller coaster, and a welcome to England that's been special.

They told me I have some chapters in my book about this year to write later on," said Hellberg.
