The 2026 Roland Garros tournament has officially begun, kicking off the summer tennis season in Paris.

While the men's draw appears more predictable, the women's competition is exceptionally open.

Top Seeds and Contenders

World number one Aryna Sabalenka leads the field as the top seed.

Four-time champion Iga Swiatek, who won three consecutive titles before last year, is also a major favorite.

Defending champion Coco Gauff and the in-form Elena Rybakina add further depth to the top tier.

Other notable contenders include Mirra Andreeva, Elina Svitolina, Victoria Mboko, Karolína Muchova, and Naomi Osaka.

Opening Day Highlights

A standout first-round match features number 26 seed Hailey Baptiste against Barbora Krejcikova.

Krejcikova is the 2021 Roland Garros champion and the 2024 Wimbledon winner.

Additional matches on the opening day include Taylor Fritz versus Nishesh Basavareddy, and Alexander Zverev facing Benjamin Bonzi.
