Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla has been awarded the NBA Coach of the Year honors for the 2025-26 season, the league announced Tuesday.
Mazzulla finished ahead of Detroit Pistons head coach J. B.

Bickerstaff and San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson in the voting.
Bickerstaff's Historic Season
Bickerstaff, in his second year with the Pistons, led the team to a 60-22 record. That mark stands as the third-best regular season in franchise history.
The Pistons also set a new franchise record with 28 road wins and secured 32 victories at Little Caesars Arena.
Bickerstaff earned several accolades during the season, including being named Coach of the Month in November.

He also coached the Eastern Conference squad at the 2026 NBA All-Star Game in February.
Under Bickerstaff, the Pistons have undergone a significant turnaround since he was hired in July 2024.
He became the first head coach in NBA history to guide a team from 60 losses in one season to 60 wins in the next.

Additionally, he reached 100 career wins with the Pistons in just 159 games, the third-fastest mark in team history.
