San Antonio and Phoenix meet at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix on October 10, 2026, for their second and third games of the NBA preseason.

The Spurs enter at 0-1 after losing to Atlanta, while the Suns are 0-2, giving both teams a chance to evaluate lineups and build momentum before the regular season.

San Antonio lost its preseason opener 123-116 against the Atlanta Hawks despite a strong first-half performance from its starters, according to previews published by Yahoo Sports and Fubo.

Phoenix is looking for its first preseason victory after two losses, with questions surrounding its offensive consistency and frontcourt depth.

Harper Leads Spurs Starters

Dylan Harper led San Antonio's starters with 16 points, four assists and four rebounds on 5-for-7 shooting in 19 minutes against Atlanta.

The second-year guard had moved into the starting lineup after previously serving as the team's sixth man, adding another ball-handler to a group featuring Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson had identified De'Aaron Fox, Castle, Harper, Vassell and Wembanyama as the intended starting five for the opener, but Fox was ruled out shortly before the game.

His availability remained uncertain ahead of the Phoenix matchup, according to Yahoo Sports.

San Antonio's lineup construction is another focus.

Vassell could fill a forward role in a smaller starting group, with the 7-foot-5 Wembanyama providing a central presence in the paint.

The Spurs showed effective collective rebounding around their center against Atlanta, but Phoenix's physical style presents a different challenge.

Yahoo Sports also highlighted the potential contributions of San Antonio's reserve guards.

David Jones-Garcia scored 14 points and Ja'Kobi Gillespie added eight in the opener, giving the team additional options as it tests rotations and distributes minutes among its guards.

Second-year wing Carter Bryant also showed progress against Atlanta, finishing with 11 points on 3-for-8 shooting, five rebounds, one steal and one block, along with four turnovers.

His preseason performance could help determine his role in San Antonio's rotation.

Suns Seek First Win

For Phoenix, Dillon Brooks has been the team's leading scorer through its first two preseason games, averaging 17.5 points.

Jordan Goodwin leads the Suns in rebounding and steals at 4.5 per game in each category, while Luke Kennard averages three assists per game, according to Fubo's statistical preview.

Devin Booker has averaged 12 points in 23 minutes per game while shooting 33.3% from the field.

He has made one of eight attempts from three-point range, according to Fubo.

Jalen Green is averaging 11.5 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Khaman Maluach has contributed seven points, 4.5 rebounds and two assists per game.

Phoenix's frontcourt will also be affected by injuries.

Mark Williams is out with a shoulder injury after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, according to Fubo's report citing ESPN's Shams Charania.

Miles Bridges was listed as questionable with an ankle injury in Yahoo Sports' preview.

San Antonio's injury report listed Jayden Quaintance as out with a knee injury and Tobias Harris as out with a calf injury.

Maliq Brown was questionable with a back issue, Fox was questionable with soreness, and Malik Williams was questionable with an undisclosed injury.

The game is scheduled for 10:30 p. m.

Eastern Time on October 10, with ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes listed as television options in Fubo's viewing information.

The matchup will take place at Mortgage Matchup Center, where Phoenix will attempt to end its preseason losing streak against a San Antonio team continuing to assess its starting combination and bench depth.
