Defensive Strategy Shuts Down Gilgeous-Alexander

San Antonio limited Oklahoma City guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to 19 points by adjusting their defensive strategy to force him into open space rather than deploying aggressive traps.

Rookie guard Stephon Castle primarily handled the defensive assignment on the perimeter, supported by interior rim protection.

Castle also assumed significant ballhandling and defensive responsibilities throughout the series.

"One of his best attributes is the fact that he wants to do it first," said Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox.

"Just that want to be a defender is 75 percent of the battle."

Wembanyama's Buzzer-Beater Highlights Big Night

Spurs center Victor Wembanyama recorded 33 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and three blocks during the matchup.

His performance included a 42-foot buzzer-beating shot at the conclusion of the second quarter, establishing a 12-point halftime advantage for San Antonio.

"I was thinking shoot to score," said Wembanyama. "I wasn't messing around at halftime."

Injured Guards Play Through Pain

Wembanyama also addressed the physical status of teammates De'Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper, who both played through injuries during the series.

"It pains me to see them in pain," said Wembanyama. "I trust they're going to be healthy soon.
