"It was very hard, but we can be super proud.
This is exactly what we agreed in the bus: not to get carried away and ride our own pace.
I am naturally a different kind of climber than Jai (Hindley) and Felix (Gall).
I can gain a lot of time in time trials, and on the climbs it's more about pacing," said Arensman.
Arensman received crucial assistance from his teammate Egan Bernal, who paced him through the difficult mountain sectors.
"It's super special, he is a Giro and Tour winner. The last days and especially today he was much more emotional than me.

He wanted me to do well.
It makes me feel proud and humble when such a champion sacrifices himself for me and wants to share all his experience with me.
That's a nice compliment," said Arensman.
The Dutch cyclist briefly feared losing his position when his chain dropped right after being distanced by Felix Gall, Jai Hindley, and Derek Gee.
"I saw the classification flash before my eyes. I wanted to shift to the big ring and my chain came off.
Luckily I could stay calm and prevent it from getting tangled," said Arensman.
Securing fourth place marks the highest grand tour finish in Arensman's professional career.
"I got the maximum out of it and rode super consistently. I was there every day and took a huge step in leadership within the team.
