The Notre Dame football schedule is a thing of beauty — but also an absolute nightmare.

The mix of schools from around the country is appealing, yet some years feel stale.

A Proposal for More Flavor

When Notre Dame first entered its ACC agreement, the prospect of games against Clemson, Florida State, Miami, and others was exciting.

However, the Irish's dominance over ACC opponents (55-12 since 2014) has made the schedule less interesting.

Despite a lackluster slate this season, the schedule improves over the next five years.

Still, the Irish could add at least one Big 12 home-and-home series each season to mix things up.

This move isn't about schedule strength or playoff resume — it's about making things more interesting.

Games against Tennessee, Michigan, Oregon, or Ole Miss would be even more intriguing, but a realistic proposal focuses on places like Morgantown, Boulder, Cincinnati, and Tucson.

The key is to play teams in their actual stadiums, not Shamrock Series events.

The offseason talk about postseason, media rights, and legislation has diminished the fun of college football.

As an independent, Notre Dame has the perk of scheduling creatively. Signing home-and-home series with random places the Irish don't normally visit could restore some excitement.
