The 76-year-old musician from Vlaardingen expressed excitement about the invitation but faces a potential obstacle following a recent fall that left her unable to straighten her arm.

Joke recounted the moment her son delivered the unexpected news on Wednesday evening, June 10, 2026, during an interview with national broadcaster NOS.

Following the initial message, Joke and her son held a virtual meeting with tournament organizers to confirm the authenticity of the performance request.

The musician initially hesitated due to her personal rule against taking flights that exceed six hours, but her son convinced her to reconsider the unique opportunity.

Her son urged her not to decline the invitation, highlighting the significance of the event.

Moet je gewoon doen,'" said Joke.
