The Minnesota Twins secured a 9-8 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in a back-and-forth battle at Target Field on Friday, June 12, 2026, after overcoming an early rain delay.

Brooks Lee broke an 8-8 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning by hitting a go-ahead home run off St. Louis reliever Ryne Stanek to secure the win for Minnesota.

The game entered a rain delay during the heavy downpour of the opening frame, pushing the official restart time back to 8:30 p.

m. central time.

Before the weather disruption, Alec Burleson hit a first-inning solo home run off Twins starter Joe Ryan, while Minnesota center fielder Byron Buxton countered with a solo home run off Cardinals starter Kyle Leahy.

St. Louis infielder Blaze Jordan made his major league debut during the game, driving in a run with an RBI single up the middle to briefly give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.

The Cardinals extended their advantage to 3-1 in the second inning after JJ Wetherholt drove in a run, compounding a tough early stretch for Ryan.
