Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is positioned for his first All-Star Game appearance since 2019 after the first Phase 1 balloting returns were released Monday.
Trout accumulated 926,601 votes, placing second among American League outfielders. New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge leads with 977,460 votes.

Angels manager Kurt Suzuki voiced strong support for Trout's potential return to the midsummer classic roster during a press availability in Phoenix.
"I think it's great for baseball," Suzuki said, adding that the recognition is important for Trout after several challenging seasons marred by injuries.
Suzuki praised Trout's work ethic during rehab, saying, "You really appreciate how he handles himself around the clubhouse with the work he puts in every single day.
It's just been awesome."

Suzuki also addressed the precautionary injured list stint for pitcher Grayson Rodriguez, who is 2-2 with an 8.06 ERA in six starts.
"I think just out of precautionary," Suzuki said, noting Rodriguez felt discomfort on a specific pitch but is not concerned long-term.
To clear roster space, the Angels designated veteran reliever Drew Pomeranz for assignment. Suzuki called Pomeranz "the ultimate professional."
Right-hander Brett Kerry earned his first major-league call-up from Triple-A Salt Lake, where he posted a 3-3 record and a 5.92 ERA.
"It's a dream come true," Kerry said. He expects his wife, child, and parents to attend the series opener.

The final phase of fan voting to determine starters for the July 14 game in Philadelphia begins June 29.
