Head coach Jesse Marsch confirmed that Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies returned to training this week.

Davies is expected to make his tournament debut at his former club stadium.

Both Canada and Qatar currently have one point each in the group standings. The upcoming match is critical for both nations.

"Maybe we'll get through this one without creating news cycles," Marsch said.

The team has been training in British Columbia since Monday to manage pressure and media scrutiny as a tournament co-host.

"The bigger the event, there's going to be more distractions," Marsch added. The coaching staff has tried to limit outside disruptions.

Marsch addressed his coaching style, noting his tendency to answer questions directly.

"I know this is a football town, Vancouver," he said, calling on local supporters to create a loud atmosphere.

Midfielder Ismaël Koné emphasized the need for victory.

"I think there will be a lot of people who are proud and who will support us," Koné said.
