The United States men's national soccer team will face Australia in a crucial Group D World Cup match at Lumen Field in Seattle on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Both teams enter the match with opening wins. The United States defeated Paraguay 4-1, while Australia beat Türkiye 2-0.

US manager Mauricio Pochettino praised Australia's defensive organization and counterattacking ability. "They're very aggressive.

They have a great organization," he said.

Pochettino noted that Australia transitions quickly after winning the ball. "They have arrows and they transition so quick, so fast," he added.

The American coach also commended Australian manager Tony Popovic's tactical discipline. "For me, it is the mentality, the coach's mentality," Pochettino said.

Team Preparations and Lineup Changes

Australia completed a midday training session in Oakland, California, on Thursday before traveling to Seattle. The team simulated logistical challenges through warm-up exhibitions in Switzerland and Southern California.

Popovic expressed confidence in his team's preparation. "We tested, logistically, how that would look for us for this match," he said.
