The Philadelphia 76ers selected Alabama guard Labaron Philon with the No. 22 overall pick in the NBA draft on Tuesday.

The move aims to bolster the team's secondary scoring unit.

According to USA Today's Sixers Wire, the front office acquired this specific selection from the Oklahoma City Thunder via the Houston Rockets.

The asset originated from the Jared McCain trade executed at the February deadline.

Philon's Collegiate Production

Philon averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game during the 2025-26 collegiate season.

He converted 50.1% of his total field goals and 39.9% of his attempts from beyond the arc.

His perimeter shooting improved significantly from a 31.5% clip during his 2024-25 freshman campaign.

His long-range volume also expanded from 3.4 attempts to 6.2 shots per game.

Current Philadelphia guard teammates VJ Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey publicly welcomed the rookie. They shared their immediate reactions on Instagram.

Philon is expected to serve as a primary scoring option for the second unit.
