The temporary relocation from Vancouver's BC Place was forced by scheduling conflicts with the FIFA World Cup, according to Global News.

Local authorities expect thousands of fans to descend on the area, prompting city officials to close select traffic lanes and implement temporary transit changes between 12 p.

m. and 9 p.

m. on game day.

Community and Player Connections

CFL alumnus Jay Christensen, who played for both clubs and won a Grey Cup with Edmonton in 1993, welcomed the league's arrival in the Okanagan region.

Christensen noted that his family moved to the city when he was 12 before he played for the local junior squad.

"I have a lot of fond memories from everywhere I played, but B. C.

will always hold my heart because I was from Vancouver and played in the Okanagan," said Christensen.

Christensen highlighted that the community festival and the upcoming games would serve as a major reunion for his own relatives and former sporting peers.

"I am looking forward to it. A lot of family, friends and even former teammates will be here," said Christensen.

He expressed enthusiasm about demonstrating the regional athletic landscape to visitors.
