Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt placed outfielder Steven Kwan back in the leadoff position on Saturday, June 27, 2026, ahead of a game against the Seattle Mariners at Progressive Field.
The move aims to revitalize an offense that has struggled, scoring three runs or fewer in 30 losses this season.

Vogt said the decision leverages Kwan's past success and familiarity with the role, rather than expecting him to single-handedly rescue the lineup.
"It's not about Kwannie stepping up more than he needs to," Vogt said.
The adjustment allows rookie Travis Bazzana to slide into the second spot in a lineup featuring several inexperienced players.
"We've got guys that are playing in their second, fifth, 10th big league game," Vogt added.

"He hasn't wavered," Vogt noted.
With key players like José Ramírez, Angel Martínez, and Chase DeLauter absent, Kwan's mentorship has become critical.
"When he's not in the lineup, he's right on the bench rooting the guys on," Vogt said.
Vogt remains confident Kwan will regain his form due to his work ethic. "He's been working his backside off," Vogt said.
