City officials confirmed that logistical preparations follow the unofficial kickoff on Thursday morning, when thousands gathered on Stephen Avenue for the annual First Flip breakfast.

Road Closure Details
Setup closures will begin at 6 a. m.
on Friday, with full parade route closures taking effect by 7:30 a. m.
Impacted streets include 9 Avenue S. E.
, 4 Street S. E.
, westbound 6 Avenue, and 10 Street S. W.

All roads are expected to reopen by 2 p. m.
Traffic and Transit Adjustments
To reduce traffic congestion, the city advised motorists from the west to use 5 Avenue or 12 Avenue, while eastern travelers should avoid East Village.
Calgary Transit will provide 24-hour CTrain service throughout the entire 10-day exhibition to accommodate early morning and late-night festival attendees.
Municipal authorities have paused major city construction projects to improve traffic flow during the celebration, which concludes on July 12, 2026.
