Batchelor Brothers Face Off

Hull KR forward James Batchelor spoke about facing his older brother Joe, who plays for Hull FC. He noted that their family remains divided over the outcome.

"Nothing else matters," said James Batchelor. He described how their mother handles the intense sibling rivalry during these massive fixtures.

"My mum is hoping for a draw, neither of us to make a tackle, have a carry or get injured and nothing of note to happen in the game," he said.

In contrast, his father anticipates a highly physical encounter.

"My dad is probably hoping for 80 minutes of absolute chaos," James added.

The match serves as a major gathering point for their extended family traveling to Merseyside.

"For the big events we have family that come up from down south and make a weekend of it," he said.

The brothers have grown closer since Joe moved to Hull, particularly as their young children are similar ages.

"When I knew he was coming over I was happy and we've got closer," James said.

They frequently support each other through the routine challenges of the rugby season.

However, communication regarding game strategy ceases entirely during derby weeks. "I think the weeks we play each other there's an understanding.
