Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso won a pre-British Grand Prix Lego exhibition race at Silverstone on Sunday, navigating a miniature track built from 28,000 bricks.

Alonso took the inside line across the grass at Club corner to finish ahead of Cadillac's Valtteri Bottas and Haas driver Esteban Ocon.

The event featured Formula One drivers competing in miniature Lego cars before the main race, drawing cheers from approximately 180,000 fans.

Chaotic moments included FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem driving the number one kart into a gravel trap at Village corner, stranding several competitors.

During the parade, McLaren driver Lando Norris gave Williams driver Carlos Sainz a lift on his car pod, replicating the iconic 1991 moment between Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna.

Aston Martin's Struggles Continue

The promotional victory contrasts sharply with Aston Martin's competitive struggles during the actual championship weekend at Silverstone.

Both Alonso and teammate Lance Stroll placed last and second-to-last on the grid for the main event after a difficult qualifying session.

According to reports, the Silverstone-based team is battling performance issues due to an overweight and underpowered car, leaving them behind the next-slowest teams.

The team is awaiting vital technical upgrades, with a new chassis scheduled for the race in Hungary and an updated engine planned for Zandvoort.

Meanwhile, Kimi Antonelli secured pole position for the main Grand Prix after overtaking Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton during Saturday's sprint qualifying.

Antonelli holds the championship lead after a calm second season in Formula One.

Mercedes driver George Russell and Hamilton remain in championship contention, though Russell expressed concerns about a straight-line speed deficit compared to other Mercedes-powered cars.

The 2026 British Grand Prix is scheduled to commence at 3 p. m.
