General Motors has issued a recall for the Cadillac Vistiq over a dangerous flaw in the third-row seats that could trap a child.
The recall affects 14,540 vehicles in the United States.

The problem was discovered after Hyundai recalled the Palisade for a similar issue earlier this year.
A GM engineer tested the Vistiq's seatbacks and reported the fault through the company's Speak Up For Safety program.
According to the NHTSA recall notice, the third-row seatbacks can be folded with a button in the cargo area or on the pillar.
Unlike the Hyundai system, the Vistiq's seatback will stop if it senses an obstruction, but a child could still become trapped underneath.
Recall Details and Interim Fix
The recall covers 13,629 units of the 2026 Vistiq built from November 12, 2024, to April 9, 2026, and 911 units of the 2027 model built from January 16, 2026, to June 15, 2026.

GM halted shipments of 2027 models on June 8, 2026.
GM is aware of six incidents or complaints potentially related to the fault but has not received reports of any injuries.
Dealers have been instructed to replace the folding third-row seat module, though replacement parts are not yet available.
As an interim measure, owners can bring their vehicle to a dealership to have the third-row folding function disabled.

Once parts arrive, the feature will be reinstated through a separate customer satisfaction campaign. Owners will be notified about the recall starting August 3.
