Vietnam is actively developing its Halal tourism ecosystem to tap into the growing global Muslim travel market, with officials and industry players outlining strategies during the Vietnam Halal Tourism Conference 2026 in Khanh Hoa on July 8.
Themed "Vietnam: The New Rendezvous of Halal Tourism," the event brought together government agencies, international organizations, experts, and businesses to discuss cooperation and infrastructure development.

Advantages and Potential
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang highlighted Vietnam's stable political environment, diverse culture, rich cuisine, and strategic location linking Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and the Middle East as key assets.
In 2025, Vietnam welcomed over 21 million international visitors, with Muslim tourists accounting for approximately 600,000 arrivals, indicating significant room for growth.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong noted that Vietnam's tourism resources and socio-political stability position it well to attract regional Halal tourists.
To seize this opportunity, Ho An Phong emphasized the need for synchronized infrastructure development, including Halal-friendly accommodation, restaurants, prayer spaces, digital platforms, and trained human resources knowledgeable about Muslim culture and beliefs.

Aviation and Connectivity
Vietjet Commercial Director Ha Nang Viet shared plans to enhance connectivity, positioning the airline as a bridge linking Vietnam with high-potential Halal markets in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
The carrier announced intentions to offer Halal-compliant meals, improve inflight experiences, increase technology applications, and expand its flight network to facilitate travel for Muslim passengers.
During the conference, Vietjet introduced the Vietnam Halal Connect initiative, an open cooperation platform connecting airlines, airports, local authorities, tourism businesses, hotels, restaurants, Halal certification units, and technology partners.
