Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner has suspended his campaign in Maine following serious allegations of sexual misconduct.
The announcement came on Wednesday via an 11-minute vertical video recorded outside his home.

Platner faces an accusation from Jenny Racicot, a 41-year-old Maine resident, who claims he forced her to have sex while she was intoxicated.
He strongly denies the allegation, as well as subsequent claims of disturbing behavior, offensive social media posts, and possessing a Nazi tattoo.
Campaign Suspension Details
In the video, Platner rejected advice from advisers to take a conciliatory tone.
Instead, he conditioned his exit on the freedom to attack establishment Democrats for his political downfall.
He blamed corporate media and political institutions for acting as judge, jury, and executioner before any investigation.

Platner framed his departure as a response to institutional forces, claiming powerful figures used the allegations to strip away necessary campaign resources.
The suspension leaves local Democrats with a narrow window to select a replacement candidate to challenge Republican Senator Susan Collins in November.
Political groups criticized the video. Emily's List noted it featured zero accountability from the candidate.
Political strategist David Axelrod remarked that Platner chose to play the martyr despite previously building an admirable movement.

Donald Trump commented on the situation, stating it remains a question of whether people believe the woman, adding that many falsehoods are told.
