A Manhattan federal court has disbursed over $5.6 million to E. Jean Carroll following Donald Trump's failed legal bids to block the payment.

According to public case docket entries from July 14, 2026, the court-held account released the funds on July 9, 2026.

This came just one day after Judge Lewis Kaplan ordered the release.

The money had been held in the court's registry investment system (Cris), which acts as an escrow agent during ongoing appeals.

The U. S.

Supreme Court had denied Trump's request to hear his appeal on June 29.

Carroll's legal team immediately sought the release of the funds.

Trump's attorneys unsuccessfully requested more time to respond, arguing the money should remain in the system during a reconsideration request.

The legal teams had previously agreed that the money would be distributed upon specific legal milestones, such as a Supreme Court refusal to review the case.

This prevented Trump from using further financial or legal tactics to withhold the money.

"Three years ago, a unanimous nine-person jury found President Trump liable for sexually assaulting and defaming E Jean Carroll.

Today, we are pleased to report that she has received the damages payment the jury awarded her as a result of that verdict," said Roberta Kaplan, Carroll's lead lawyer.

In a separate 2024 trial, another Manhattan federal court jury awarded Carroll $83.3 million for defamatory remarks made by Trump during his presidency.

Both jury awards originated from a 2019 New York magazine feature excerpting Carroll's book, "What Do We Need Men For?

A Modest Proposal."
