Her precision on the beam and floor exercises highlighted her remarkable talent, captivating the audience with her seamless performances.

A Surprising Achievement

"I was surprised to get a 10," said Comaneci, reflecting on the moment. "I really didn't expect it."

Her flawless execution of routines showcased a new level of gymnastics excellence.

Despite the Soviet Union winning the women's gymnastics team competition, Comaneci's individual achievements overshadowed the event.

She repeated her perfect score on both the beam and asymmetric bars, securing a commanding lead in the qualifiers for the combined exercises final.

Comaneci's performance was so exceptional that the scoring computer initially rejected the score of 10 points, as it had never been recorded before.

However, once the judges confirmed her perfection, the computer accepted her remarkable score during the voluntary exercises.

With only a 0.30 point deduction across all apparatuses in the voluntary movements, Comaneci's lead was significant compared to other competitors like Olga Korbut, who faced challenges during her routines.
