A retired British couple found themselves in an unexpected encounter with a Russian warship in the English Channel.
Jane and Alan Kelvey were sailing their boat, Bright Future, when they came across the Admiral Grigorovich, a 125-meter Russian frigate.

The couple, who had just started a two-month sailing trip, initially assumed the vessel was French or British.
As they approached, the frigate sounded its horn and fired warning shots.
Jane took cover while Alan steered the boat away. "It was obviously a surprise," Jane said.
Despite the alarm, they did not feel threatened.
The Russian government claimed the yacht was on a "dangerous course," a statement the couple disputes.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the Russian vessel's actions as "reckless" and noted it had been drifting.
Jane pointed out that if the warship was adrift, it should have displayed day shapes, which it did not.
A month later, docked in a rainy harbor in north-west France, the couple remains surprised by the media attention.
"I was surprised about the amount of interest," Jane said. "But we're fine, really.
