Toyota has introduced the 2027 Prius and Prius Plug-in Hybrid, but the changes are minimal.

The models gain a new Inked exterior color and a standard dual-zone climate control system. Prices increase by $205 across all trims.

The standard Prius now starts at $28,755 plus a $1,295 destination fee. The LE, XLE, Nightshade, and Limited trims all see the same price bump.

The updates come as Prius sales in the U. S.

continue to decline.

Americans bought only 19,518 units in the first six months of 2026, a drop of 42.3% compared to the same period last year.

The decline occurred despite rising gas prices linked to the conflict in Iran.

The 2027 Prius retains its hybridized 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 194 hp (145 kW) in front-wheel-drive models and 196 hp (146 kW) with all-wheel drive.

Fuel economy is rated at up to 55 mpg combined for FWD and 53 mpg for AWD.

Prius Plug-in Hybrid Also Updated

The Prius Plug-in Hybrid receives the same minor updates: a new Inked color and standard dual-zone climate control.

Pricing starts at $33,980, also $205 more than the outgoing model. The XSE, Nightshade, and XSE Premium trims are similarly affected.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors and a 13.6 kWh battery.

Total output is 220 hp (164 kW), and the car can travel up to 44 miles on electric power alone.

When the battery is depleted, it operates as a conventional hybrid, returning up to 51 mpg combined.

Despite the updates, the 2027 Prius lineup offers little to reverse the sales slide.

The changes are limited to a new color, a climate control upgrade, and a modest price increase.
