Former University of Tennessee softball standout Madison Shipman made television history during a Toronto Blue Jays broadcast against the San Diego Padres, Knox News reported.

Shipman became the first woman to serve as a color analyst for a regular-season Blue Jays game on the Sportsnet network.

The assignment spanned a three-game series that commenced on Friday night, July 10, at 9:40 p. m.

ET.

The historic appearance follows her network debut during two spring training broadcasts earlier in February, according to reports from Knox News and the Toronto Star.

Shipman transition to the Major League Baseball television booth follows her tenure with Sportsnet since June 2023, where she previously contributed as an analyst for Blue Jays radio broadcasts.

Her broadcasting portfolio also features extensive experience with ESPN and the SEC Network, where she has analyzed collegiate softball and the Women's College World Series since 2018.

Prior to her media career, Shipman established a decorated athletic legacy at the University of Tennessee.

She secured the 2014 SEC Player of the Year title, won the 2014 Honda Sports Award for softball, and earned selection as a two-time first-team NFCA All-American.

The former shortstop holds prominent positions across the Tennessee program record books, ranking second in career grand slams and fifth in career home runs, doubles, runs batted in, and total bases.

She also guided the Lady Vols to consecutive Women's College World Series appearances in 2012 and 2013, before being selected as the second overall pick in the 2014 National Pro Fastpitch Draft.
