The Toronto Blue Jays made roster moves ahead of their series against the Washington Nationals, activating Max Scherzer from the injured list and placing Braydon Fisher on the restricted list.
Scherzer is set to start the series opener on Monday, according to reports.

The right-hander had been sidelined since June 10 and owns a 1-4 record with a 10.23 ERA in six starts this season.
Fisher was placed on the restricted list with a bereavement designation.
The reliever had previously been away from the team earlier this month after his father died from a stroke at age 65.
Under MLB rules, players on the bereavement list must miss a minimum of three games and a maximum of seven.
Fisher will be unavailable for at least part of the three-game series against Washington.

Fisher has been a key reliever for Toronto this season, posting a 3-3 record with a 4.15 ERA in 50 appearances, including seven starts.
He has recorded one save and compiled a 1.25 WHIP with a 52-to-26 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 52 innings.
In his rookie season, Fisher went 7-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 52 games.
The Blue Jays entered Monday with a 48-58 record, last in the AL East.

Manager John Schneider said Scherzer's pitch count could be limited after his rehab outing in Triple-A Buffalo.
