Subaru has officially confirmed that production of its all-new 2027 Getaway electric SUV has been delayed.
The automaker stated that additional time is required for final adjustments before the vehicle can enter production.

Reason for Delay
In a statement provided to Carscoops, Subaru said, “The start of production for the Getaway is expected to be delayed to allow sufficient time for final adjustments before launch.”
The explanation closely mirrors the one Toyota gave earlier this month for its own three-row electric SUV.
Toyota had previously announced a delay for its battery-electric Highlander, citing the same need for more time to finalize details.
The Getaway and Toyota’s three-row EV share a platform and are both expected to be built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky.
Given their shared underpinnings, questions arose whether Toyota’s setback would affect Subaru’s timeline. Until now, Subaru had not publicly deviated from its original fall 2026 target.

The company has not specified how long the delay will last or whether it will impact customer deliveries.
It also declined to elaborate on what the “final adjustments” entail, leaving possibilities ranging from software refinement to manufacturing readiness or validation testing.
Production could still begin this year. Toyota specifically mentioned at least an eight-week delay for the Highlander.
For buyers, the wait may not significantly change near-term plans.
The Getaway is a crucial model for Subaru, expanding its EV lineup beyond the Solterra with a larger, three-row electric SUV aimed at family demand.
