Representative Ralph Norman announced on Saturday his candidacy for the U. S.

Senate seat in South Carolina, following the death of longtime Senator Lindsey Graham.
The South Carolina Republican confirmed his bid during a television broadcast, signaling an immediate entry into the upcoming special primary election to fill the vacant federal seat.
Norman's Platform and Endorsement
"I will be laser-focused on passing President Trump's America First agenda," Norman said.
His announcement came a day after former President Donald Trump publicly endorsed Darline Graham, Lindsey Graham's sister, to pursue the Senate position in the scheduled August 11 special Republican primary.
"I hope Darline does this, in that there would be nobody better to honor the legacy of her beloved brother, Lindsey," Trump said.
In a post on his campaign website, Norman emphasized the need for steadfast conservative leaders to advance federal legislation.

"President Trump needs proven conservative fighters standing with him — not politicians who fold when the pressure comes," Norman stated.
Interim Senator and Other Candidates
Darline Graham was officially sworn in on Tuesday to temporarily occupy the vacant Senate seat on an interim basis while the state prepares for the election process.
"Now, it's time for me to step up for South Carolina," she wrote in an open letter released Saturday.
In her letter, Graham commended her late brother's dedicated service but refrained from confirming whether she will enter the Republican primary race.
Formal candidate filing opens next week. Republicans Duke Buckner and Mark Lynch have also announced their intentions to run for the Senate seat.

Norman previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives and worked in commercial real estate development.
