Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Nolan Arenado reached a major career milestone on July 20, 2026, recording his 2,000th career hit in a loss to the Athletics.
Arenado doubled to left field in the fifth inning off left-hander Jeffrey Springs at Chase Field.

The 35-year-old became the sixth player in MLB history with at least 2,000 hits, 350 home runs, and 10 Gold Glove awards.
He joins Hall of Famers Ken Griffey Jr., Willie Mays, Mike Schmidt, Johnny Bench, and Al Kaline in that exclusive group.
Arenado is also one of six active players to reach 2,000 hits, alongside Freddie Freeman, Jose Altuve, Andrew McCutchen, Paul Goldschmidt, and Manny Machado.
The eight-time All-Star received a lengthy standing ovation from the home crowd after the hit.
Diamondbacks Transactions and Injuries
Arizona made multiple bullpen moves following heavy usage, calling up right-hander Juan Burgos from Triple-A Reno and optioning left-hander Philip Abner.

Reliever Drey Jameson threw 20 balls and 22 strikes across two innings, while Abner used 46 pitches to cover two frames in the previous game.
All-Star outfielder Corbin Carroll remained out of the starting lineup due to an elbow hyperextension.
Carroll has struggled in July, batting . 118 with six hits in 51 at-bats.
“If there's a situation late in the game, I'm sure I'll be in there, but if that situation doesn't arise, then yeah, just give it a day,” Carroll said.
The Diamondbacks entered the series with a 42-57 record, still in the Wild Card race after matchups against the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Pitcher Merrill Kelly is scheduled to start the series finale against Oakland rookie Gage Jump.
