Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the London area, with dangerous weather expected from Monday afternoon into the evening.
The forecast includes wind gusts of 90 to 110 kilometers per hour, locally heavy rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters, and hailstones the size of quarters to ping pong balls.
"Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain," the agency said.
Storms are expected to develop over Lake Huron and move southeastward, potentially causing damage to roofs, fences, and tree branches, as well as possible utility outages.
Heavy rains may lead to flash flooding and reduced visibility, while large hail poses risks of significant damage and injury.
Emergency Management Ontario urges residents to take shelter immediately if severe weather approaches.

Areas east of Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe, extending into the Ottawa Valley, face additional flooding risks due to expected heavy rainfall in the coming days.
