Snapchat has launched a new feature called "Now Playing" that allows users to share the music they are listening to on Spotify directly through Snap Map.
The integration was announced on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Snap Map, which already reaches over 450 million monthly active users, now displays friends' active Spotify tracks in real time.
Users can link their Spotify accounts via app settings, friend profiles, or the map interface itself.
Once linked, friends can see what track someone is streaming and open it directly within Spotify.
The feature also works with Snapchat Spotlight videos and Sound Pages, letting users save discovered songs to their Spotify "Liked Songs" library or explore other public videos using the same audio.
Privacy and Control Options
Users can manage their visibility through four privacy settings: sharing with all friends, map-specific friends, selected individuals, or pausing activity sharing entirely.

The pause function automatically deactivates after 24 hours of inactivity.
Snapchat Head of Music Manny Adler said in a statement that music is a personal form of expression that becomes more meaningful when shared.
"Now Playing adds a new layer of expression and discovery to Snap Map," he said.
The rollout follows a broader industry trend toward music socialization.
TikTok's "Add to Music App" has driven over 6 billion track saves by April 2026, and Spotify's internal messaging features have reached nearly 40 million users.

The feature is launching globally in markets where both platforms operate, with Canada scheduled to follow shortly.
