The Bank of Canada published its official 2027 monetary policy calendar on July 26, 2026, establishing eight scheduled interest rate decision dates.
The move aims to provide long-term planning certainty for mortgage markets and financial institutions.

Central bank officials confirmed that interest rate announcements will occur on January 27, March 3, April 28, June 2, July 21, September 8, October 27, and December 8 in 2027.
All policy decisions are scheduled for release at 09:45 ET.
The benchmark overnight rate currently remains at 2.25%, following six consecutive decision holds.
Alongside the interest rate calendar, the central bank reconfirmed its final decision dates for 2026 as September 2, October 28, and December 9.
Quarterly updates to the Monetary Policy Report, which outline economic projections and inflation trends, will accompany the January, April, July, and October announcements in 2027.

The central bank also scheduled its 2027 Business Outlook Survey and Canadian Survey of Consumer Expectations releases for January 18, April 19, July 12, and October 18, followed by the Financial Stability Report on May 18.
Sal Guatieri, director and senior economist at BMO Capital Markets, said the Bank of Canada appears on hold for the foreseeable future.
He noted potential economic disruptions that could sway future monetary decisions, including trade war harm to the economy and Iran conflict-driven oil price increases.
Claire Fan, senior economist at RBC Economics, maintained that policy rates will likely remain steady through the remainder of 2026 before modest rate increases begin in 2027.
