Late-night TV hosts and lawmakers are raising fresh questions about the transparency of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's health status after his team released a second photo from his rehabilitation facility on July 26, 2026.

The 84-year-old Kentucky senator was hospitalized on June 14 after a fall at his home.

He has remained out of public view for nearly six weeks and missed 38 Senate floor votes, according to NBC.

Under growing public pressure, McConnell's team released an image showing him seated next to his wife, Elaine Chao.

The photo quickly sparked criticism and online parody, with commentators noting its striking similarity to a previously released image from July 12.

Comedian Jimmy Fallon displayed the two photographs side by side during a broadcast, mocking the lack of variation between them.

"Looks like one of those assignments where you have to spot 10 differences," Fallon said.

Fallon had previously criticized the first photograph issued by the senator's team earlier in the month.

"Nothing says perfect health like having someone hold you up when you're already sitting," he said.

He added another joke about the couple's positioning in the photo.

"Looks like a husband-and-wife ventriloquist act," Fallon said.

Fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel also joined the criticism, posting a doctored version of the photograph on social media with his own face superimposed over Chao's body.

"For those asking, Mitch and I are feeling better, stronger, sexier and still technically alive every day!" Kimmel wrote.
