Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort in South Tyrol is set to upgrade its summit access with a new six-person chairlift for the 2026/2027 winter season.
The modern lift, built by LEITNER, will replace the old Gitsch four-person chairlift that has been operating since 1998 on the Gitschberg sector above Meransen.
Faster Ride and Enhanced Comfort
The new chairlift will nearly halve travel time to two minutes and 41 seconds, ascending from 2,203 meters to 2,500 meters at a speed of five meters per second.
It covers a vertical drop of 297 meters, transporting skiers to the resort's highest elevation point more efficiently.
Chairs are equipped with heated seating, weather protection bubbles, and individual footrests to improve comfort and safety, especially for children at higher altitudes.
AI-Powered Safety System
The boarding station will feature automated artificial intelligence camera surveillance to monitor passenger positioning and detect fall risks before lowering safety bars.
If an unsafe situation is detected, the lift automatically stops, adding a layer of protection for riders.
At the top station, a 360-degree panoramic viewing platform offers views of the surrounding mountains toward the Dolomites, leading directly to the wide Gitsch slope that extends nearly one kilometer.
