Actress West Duchovny attended the July 2026 premiere of the Peacock miniseries The Five-Star Weekend, marking her commitment to a full-time acting career despite initial hesitation from her famous parents, David Duchovny and Téa Leoni.
The 27-year-old performer originally enrolled in pre-med coursework during college, avoiding performance art because it was her parents' profession.
Her career direction shifted after she agreed to star in a university play directed by a friend.
Parental Concerns
Her decision to enter show business initially prompted concern from her father, who spent years starring as Fox Mulder in The X-Files.
"My daughter West is acting. She majored in English in college, just like I did," said David Duchovny.
The veteran actor noted that while entering the field poses challenges, his daughter possesses the resilience required for the industry.
"I'm always scared of anybody I love getting into acting, especially a child of mine, but I think she has a toughness to her that can help her survive," he said.
He also noted that his son, Kyd, has shown no interest in an acting career despite being a natural storyteller.
Father-Daughter Collaboration
David Duchovny later co-starred with West in the film Soapbox, describing the collaboration as a gift after initial worries over his own performance.
"I had a wonderful time.
You'd have to ask West if she had a wonderful time too, but it really was a once in a lifetime experience.
