Scottish train passengers faced severe account lockouts and booking failures on Thursday, July 30, 2026, after ScotRail launched its updated official mobile app and website.
The railway operator migrated away from its previous Trainline-powered booking portal, but widespread technical failures immediately prevented passengers from accessing their accounts.

Frustrated commuters experienced broken password reset systems, missing tickets after successful payments, and total login failure.
"Just purchased a ticket, money gone from my account. Ticket not there.
I need to get to work and that was my last fiver till payday tomorrow," reported one passenger.
Public frustration escalated online as passengers struggled with basic password verification requests required for the new platform.
"The transition of changing over from old app to new app is appalling. Despite six attempts still no email to allow me to reset password," wrote another passenger.
Many users expressed frustration at the lack of functional access during their morning commutes.
"It's a shambles. No one is receiving the renew password email," added a third passenger.
Commuters also questioned whether adequate testing had been conducted prior to the mandatory system shift.
"I can't use the old one, it has started asking me to login. I've then done the password reset and then it says invalid.
Barriers should be opened for on-train purchase. This is a shambles.
