Mercedes-Benz is recalling 310,667 vehicles in the United States over a potentially faulty door microswitch that could allow the car to roll away after the driver exits.
The defect lies in a microswitch inside the driver's door lock.

A supplier development error caused some switches to be made with housing material that may allow moisture to enter under certain climatic conditions.
Over time, moisture can lead to corrosion and switch failure.
While the door itself still locks and unlocks normally, the car may not detect that the driver has opened the door.
This means the electronic parking brake or Auto-Park function might not engage automatically, leaving the vehicle unsecured.
Mercedes says it is not aware of any rollaway incidents in the US linked to the defect, though such incidents have occurred overseas.
The company has recorded 176 field cases in America, mostly involving less alarming symptoms like radios or lights failing to switch off after exit.

Affected Models
The recall covers a wide range of compact Mercedes models from model years 2019 to 2026.
The list includes the A-Class, B-Class, CLA, C-Class, CLE, GLA, GLB, and GLC, along with their AMG and 4Matic variants.
The GLB 250 4Matic is the most heavily affected, with 71,696 units, followed by 56,879 front-drive GLB 250s.
At the other end, just one 2024 AMG CLE 53 Coupe is included.
Mercedes first received complaints about the switches between 2021 and 2024.
An investigation traced the issue to moisture reaching the microswitch, with humidity, heat, and condensation increasing the risk.

Dealers will replace the driver's door lock free of charge. Vehicles built from May 20, 2026 onward use improved supplier parts and should not have the problem.
