Inter Milan Beats Man City on Penalties in Hong Kong Friendly

Inter Milan defeated Manchester City 3-1 on penalties in a pre-season friendly at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

The match drew 42,286 fans and ended 1-1 after regulation time.

Manchester City took an early lead in the 14th minute through Divin Mubama, who tapped in a cross from Antoine Semenyo.

Inter equalized six minutes later when Benjamin Pavard converted a penalty set up by Federico Dimarco.

Both teams made numerous substitutions at halftime and throughout the second half.

City's Savinho created two chances early in the second period, while 18-year-old Ryan McAidoo hit the post from 18 yards with 10 minutes remaining.

With the score level at 1-1, the match went straight to a penalty shootout to decide the Asahi Super Dry Trophy.

Inter converted three of their four spot-kicks. For City, Claudio Echeverri scored, but Rayan Ait-Nouri, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Nico all missed, sealing Inter's victory.

The match was the first leg of Manchester City's 2026 Asia Tour.

The team will travel to Seoul on Tuesday, August 4, to face a K-League All-Stars team on August 5, before meeting Atletico Madrid on August 9.
