A stolen Mazda MX-5 led police on a dramatic hour-long chase through Sydney's south-western suburbs on Tuesday morning.
The 40-year-old driver, who was unlicensed, finally lost control and rolled the car on the M5 motorway.

According to New South Wales Police, the dark blue MX-5 had been reported stolen from the Redfern area on Friday.
Officers spotted the car in Guildford at 10:35 AM, but the driver refused to stop and sped off.
The pursuit lasted a full hour, with the roadster mounting footpaths, swerving into oncoming traffic, and dodging police spike strips.
The police helicopter tracked the vehicle through multiple suburbs, including Guildford, Merrylands, Chester Hill, Bass Hill, Auburn, Regent's Park, and East Hills.
At one point, officers deployed tire spikes, but the driver avoided them by swerving onto the sidewalk.
The MX-5 then entered the M5 motorway, weaving through heavy traffic.

Multiple police vehicles joined the chase, including Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series Tactical Operation Units, BMW 5-Series Highway Patrol Units, and unmarked X3 and X5 SUVs.
The chase ended when the driver lost control and rolled several times off the highway shoulder.
Paramedics treated the driver for non-life-threatening injuries, and he remains in stable condition under police guard.
Authorities confirmed he was driving without a license and is known to police, with multiple charges pending his release from hospital.
Detective Inspector Mena Wolsely told media the stolen Mazda "crashed into several cars along the way" and repeatedly crossed onto the wrong side of the road.
She added they were lucky no one was seriously injured.

The MX-5, which appears to be totaled, was equipped with a hardtop, aftermarket wheels, bucket seats, and a roll cage.
