The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have launched a major offensive overhaul during training camp as they prepare to revitalize their diminished passing attack for the upcoming 2026 CFL season.

The restructuring centers on the high-profile acquisition of star free-agent receiver Tim White and the hiring of new offensive coordinator Tommy Condell to fix last year's seventh-ranked scoring offense.

According to team statistics, Winnipeg tied for the sixth-fewest passing touchdowns with 23 and ranked eighth in red-zone efficiency during their 10-8 season in 2025.

White and Condell Reunite

"I want to redefine the offence and get us to that top level in the passing game," said White.

White noted that the existing roster dynamics will allow him to smoothly integrate his specialized skillset into the lineup to help secure victories.

"With all the guys they have here, I'll be able to step into a situation where I can be myself, and I can put my ability on display to help this team win games," said White.

The wideout chose Winnipeg over league-wide interest specifically due to his extensive three-season history with Condell in Hamilton.

"Having Tommy there, knowing that I played with him and knowing the things that he could do with an offence, made it even more of a thing I wanted to be part of," said White.

Quarterback and Coach Praise

Quarterback Zach Collaros, who previously played under Condell in Hamilton, expressed immense satisfaction with the early results of training camp.

"There's been a really good energy, really great vibe, not just with the offence, but in the locker room in general," said Collaros.

Collaros added that while the playbook introduces a new system, the inclusion of familiar linguistic principles has accelerated the roster's transition.

"I do feel like we hit the ground running in camp.

It's a new system, but a lot of it is similar and familiar, blending some of the old principles and the verbiage, which has made things easier for the guys," said Collaros.

Head coach Mike O'Shea expressed high praise for White's athleticism and compared the free-agent signing to the acquisition of special teams star Mike Miller.

"Unbelievable athlete. Very competitive and serious about his craft," said O'Shea.

O'Shea explained that landing an accomplished receiver of White's caliber became an undeniable priority once the player hit the open market.

"It reminds me a little bit of being able to get Mike Miller when we did.

You had a guy who's a prolific tackler, and all of a sudden, he's available. So we get a guy who is a very accomplished receiver.

It's good for us," said O'Shea.

Tommy Nield Adds Depth

The head coach also highlighted the versatility of 27-year-old receiver Tommy Nield, who was brought in from Saskatchewan to add a physical, blocking presence to the red zone.

"He's proved that he's very intelligent and can know all the spots, so he's versatile," said O'Shea.

O'Shea further noted that Nield provides a highly dependable option who will consistently execute plays exactly where the quarterback needs him.

"Put him in a spot, and he'll understand the concepts of the entire offence. Willing blocker; clutch catch guy.

He will be in the right place at the right time for a quarterback. He's going to be very trustworthy," said O'Shea.

Nield, a three-time Grey Cup champion, emphasized his desire to establish complete trust and synergy with the starting quarterback.

"I want to be that consistent receiver that can be relied on and on the same page with Zach," said Nield.

The newly acquired pass-catcher concluded by describing his ability to make physical plays over the top of defenders.

"I've got a versatile game. I can go over the top and make those bigger body catches," said Nield.
