The Ontario Hockey League champion Kitchener Rangers defeated the Western Hockey League titleholder Everett Silvertips 6-2 on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

The victory gave the Rangers a 2-0 record in round-robin play, while the Silvertips fell to 1-1 alongside the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.

Kitchener captain Cameron Reid, a 2025 Nashville Predators first-round pick, recorded one goal and three assists. Forward Jack Pridham added two goals.

Christian Humphreys, Gabriel Chiarot, and Cameron Arquette also scored for Kitchener, which led 2-1 after the first period and 5-2 heading into the third.

Rylan Gould had a goal and an assist for Everett, and Matias Vanhanen also scored. The Silvertips outshot Kitchener 42-28 but went 1-for-4 on the power play.

Rangers goaltender Christian Kirsch made 40 saves, following a 24-save shutout against the host Kelowna Rockets on Friday.

Everett entered the game seeking a win to secure a spot in the championship final after a 5-3 opening victory over Chicoutimi on Saturday.

"That was our goal coming into the tournament [to play in the final] and obviously we take it step-by-step and we're looking to get there tonight," said Everett defenceman Luke Vlooswyck, a Philadelphia Flyers prospect.

Vlooswyck acknowledged Kitchener's challenge: "They possess the puck well and they're definitely going to be a challenge for us but we have everything we need in that room so we're ready for tonight."

Kitchener had a two-day break before Monday's game and aimed to secure at least a semifinal berth.

"We're excited but [head coach] Jussi Ahokas talks about it a lot but we take it one day at a time and our focus tonight is Everett," said Kitchener forward Christian Humphreys, a Colorado Avalanche prospect.

Humphreys praised the team's performance after their opening win: "I thought all around we were good. We got good goaltending, [Kirsch] was really good.

We played heavy, we played fast and we'll do the same tonight."

A win for Kitchener on Tuesday against Chicoutimi would guarantee first place in the round-robin and an automatic berth in the Memorial Cup Final on Sunday, May 31.

The round-robin concludes Wednesday when the host Kelowna Rockets face the Everett Silvertips.
